Our reflections from HLTH Europe
🚲Still buzzing a month on from HLTH Europe!
It's been a whole month since our team returned from the incredible HLTH Europe event in Amsterdam and we’re still feeling energised from the connections made and lessons learnt.
Erica, our Head of Product shared, "It was my first time and I now know why HLTH is known as THE conference for healthcare innovation."
Here are our team's top takeaways from an unforgettable few days:
☎️AI is no longer “Next” - it’s “Now”
A clear observation from all our team members is that the theme of AI is no longer about hype - it’s about application. What AI are you using and how are you using it?
🗣Which AI technologies are leading the charge?
Large Language Models (LLMs) and Ambient Voice Technology (AVT), “are currently punching through the noise” as noticed by Erica.
Whereas, Keith, our Founder, observed that there is very little buzz around agentic AI. “It felt like the healthcare sector was feeling increasingly comfortable and confident with LLMs and good old fashioned AI”, but less so in the cutting edge technology.
🌊Modularity is the key to staying afloat
In simple terms, "modularity" means large healthcare organisations like EHR players are breaking down their vast IT systems into smaller, interchangeable parts. This lets them quickly integrate cutting-edge AI tools from startups, helping them to not fall behind in an ecosystem of rapid innovation.
✅From “Innovation Done” to "Innovation Done RIGHT"
HLTH was inundated with a combination of vendors and service providers - NHS trusts, ICBs, and practices. But they weren’t just interested in what new technology they could implement, they started to think how they could do it safely.
Keith puts it like this: “Railroads and telegraph poles are emerging in the Wild West of Digital Health.”
Many non-health companies follow the principle of ‘move fast and break things’ to build their start-up or develop something new; but in the case of healthcare, breaking things means breaking patients and so a different route has to be taken. - The route of compliance and safety.
Chloe, our Head of Operations agrees that it’s time to shift the conversation to “how do we use AI responsibly within real-world constraints? Focusing on clinical safety, regulatory compliance, and ethical transparency.” and HLTH was an important part of that pivot in conversation and focus.
We had such a brilliant experience! Being able to learn and connect together brought us even closer as a team.
We’re already looking forward to next year!
